PRIZE-WINNING MEATLOAF

     1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
     1/4 tsp. pepper
     3/4 c. oats (uncooked)
     1 c. tomato juice
     1/4 c. onion, chopped
     1 egg, beaten
     1 1/2 tsp. salt
Combine all ingredients thoroughly; pack firmly into an ungreased loaf pan.  Bake in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes.  Let stand 5 minutes before slicing.
YIELD: 8 servings
